Dada Goes To Sarajevo
I am referencing the art movement, Dada, which originated in Zurich, Switzerland, during World War I. Dada was a nihilistic and anti-art movement that rejected logic, reason, and traditional “beautiful” aesthetic values, often using nonsensical or absurd or irritant elements. The name itself, "Dada," is thought to be a nonsensical word, possibly chosen at random from a French-German dictionary, or from the Slavic-root "da, da" meaning "yes, yes" or in German word referring to “Gehorchen” “sich-beugen” or in English Obey! —What a beautiful Art movement. A super fun movement with a lot of freedom of expression- not only in message but medium as well! thus shall I say after DPA is DADA?
Thus
Dada Goes to Sarajevo is the name of my project. I have spent over thirty years re-searching for the creative imperative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) society to exit permanent liminality due to the war. I spent four years in that war, 1991-4, and got injured. Dada and Dadaism is the creative imperative for B&H. As a native to that region; region loaded with brilliant culture(s), I think, Dada Art, again, presents itself as the creative imperative for B&H and other post-conflict regions to exit permanent liminality and enter permanent peace no full-stop
